Public Controversy: Bullying

For my public controversy essay, I have decided to discuss the topic of bullying in the United States. Around the nation, bullying in universities and schools has been consistently increasing. Children and young adults are being killed or resorting to suicide as a tragic result of being bullied. This is a heavily debated with many opinions on the issue and possible courses of action. Through thorough examination of the problem, I have taken the position that there needs to be an increase in government sending’s to begin addressing bullying and safe schools. Bullying is a violent problem with grand implications about our youth and society.

  1. How can you support the claim that "bullying in universities and schools has been consistently increasing"? Where do you think you could conduct research to find that kind of information?

What do you mean by "government sending's"? How would this make schools safer?

Your proposal already is taking the shape of an argument that you can make in your essay. But you still need to identify a counterargument you can present and rebut.

  2. do i need to answer all of those questions in the proposal or is that something I can go into depth in through my essay?

  3. These questions are for you to think about as you conduct your research and begin your draft. You do not have to answer them here, but I would expect your essay to answer them in one way or another.
