Research: Child Obesity and Physical Activity

In my research, I learned the effects of obesity on physical fitness of children. In one of the Nature study of childhood obesity, they found that overweight boys between the age of 6 and 10 were significantly less active than their normal-weight male counterpart between the age of 6 and 10. Although the effects on the girls were not the same, (overweight girls were more active than normal-weight girls between the age of 6 and 10), the overweight girls fell in the same physical activeness category of the overweight males. This prominent organization suggests a lot of credible statistical evidence on physical activity in comparison to children’s weight, height, and heart rate.

This study helps out my essay because it also counters falsifiable claims. For instance, any bloggers suggesting that their “overweight” kid exercises enough and doesn’t need physical education can be misleading. Exercising enough does not abide by the Nature’s study because the blogger’s kid fell within its statistics. In other words, the blogger is more than likely giving an equivocal statement –In reality, the blogger’s kid is not exercising enough.
