In my research, I have found several websites that do a good job of explaining the many bacterial diseases that grow in reusable grocery bags. According to the Environmental Protection, reusable grocery bags can serve as a breeding ground for dangerous food-borne bacteria and pose as a serious risk to public health. A study found that 97% of users don't clean their reusable bags. Also, 75% percent admitted they mix meats and vegetables in the same bags and often take reusing to a new level tossing books, snacks and other personal items into the bags after shopping. By doing so, these users are putting themselves in a serious risk of receiving a food-borne illness.
I also liked this website because it presented a set of changes that our society could make to improve this issue. This includes printing a set of directions to educate the users.
