Public Controversy Research: Bullying

I found an article published on October 5, 2010 on Keen News Service. This article discussed that federal grants are being awarded to address bullying and safer schools. The author, Dana Rudolph, states
" The U.S. Department of Education announced today (Oct. 5) the awarding of $38.8 million in grants to 11 states from a new Safe and Supportive School program. The timing comes just days after a media blitz about the suicides of five teenagers, at least four of whom were bullied for being gay or being perceived as gay. "
This piece of research greatly supports my argument and shows that some small actions are even being taken. Deeper throughout the article Rudolph discusses the actions taken by Kevin Jennings, Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools. Jennings and Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, have been working on the bullying issue since they came into office. There was a Safe and Supportive Schools grants announce to "measure school safety" and "help intervene in those schools with the greater safety needs ".
