I will describe the controversy between alcohol and marijuana; ; the history of alcohol legality vs history of marijuana illegality; and the benefits of marijuana vs disadvantages of alcohol. My counterargument will argue that alcohol has been legal in this country for a long time and that it would be un-American like to legalize alcohol. My position will argue that there are way too many benefits for the economy and society for marijuana to remain illegal, while alcohol has remained legal.
